Cultural Education: The Four “I”s of Oppression

Understanding how oppression and oppressive systems function can be difficult, even for folks familiar with oppressive systems ( like racism, sexism, etc.) and are actively working to disrupt them. Many times, folks can miss the layers and the complexity of oppressive systems, and struggle to spot the evidence of their presence in society beyond interpersonal interactions. Watch this session to deepen your understanding of all oppressive systems by learning the best model for such education: The 4 I’s of Oppression. This presentation will use racism in the U.S. (with some specifics of the child welfare system) as foundational examples of how oppression operates in society, while simultaneously educating attendees on a theoretical model for oppression.
