SUMMARY:OADC/ORPC Trial Advocacy
DESCRIPTION:As in past years\, there will be a Dependency & Neglect Track at Trial Advocacy 2024. And for the first time ever\, BOTH CRIMINAL AND D&N TRACKS WILL USE THE SAME CASE HYPO! For consistency and ease of participation\, we are using a criminal/D&N crossover child abuse case. \nDuring this amazing week\, over 25 nationally recognized trial advocacy trainers donate their time and expertise to help energize\, motivate\, and teach participants to transform their trial practice. The training involves plenary sessions and small group break-out sessions (typically 6-7 per group) where participants work on a sample case from beginning to end. Topics include theme and theory\, jury selection\, opening statements\, cross-examination\, direct examination\, jury instructions\, and closing arguments. After faculty instruction and demonstration on a topic\, participants work in small groups to develop and elevate their individual skills in a supportive and safe environment. This training is relevant to all skill levels – whether you are a beginning defender or an experienced trial attorney\, you will benefit greatly from this remarkable training. \nREGISTER HERE \nAPPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP HERE (Scholarship Applications Due November 24\, with decisions communicated by December 1)
