Cultural Education: Transracial Adoption
In this webinar we contrast the way that adoption is talked about and treated within the child welfare system against the actual experience of adopted children. There is tremendous
loss that accompanies adoption, particularly in transracial adoptions where a child is adopted into a home that that is not their birth culture. Despite this, adoption is treated as the end-all,
be-all for children in foster care. This presentation will explore our feelings and language around adoption and delve into legal avenues for keeping a child in their family and culture
should a return home to a parent not be possible.
